Karen pieced her first quilt top in 2003, and just two years later, purchased her first Gammill longarm machine and launched Creative Longarm Quilting. It didn’t take long for longarm quilting to become her true passion, as she blended her artistic background into her work and developed a distinctive, custom quilting style.

In 2006, Karen entered her first quilt show—and took home a Judge’s Choice award. Since then, she has earned numerous national awards for both her personal and client quilts. In 2012, she was named a Gammill Quilt Artist, and for many years shared her popular Block Breakdown and Dual Process free monthly series.

Karen teaches quilters across the country and served as a Gammill Educator from 2018–2025. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in encouragement—helping quilters grow their skills, trust their instincts, and enjoy the creative process every step of the way.
While primarily a hand-guided quilter, Karen began digitizing her designs in 2018 and quickly discovered a new creative passion. Designing quilting patterns has become just as fulfilling as stitching them, allowing her to share her work with a broader community of quilters beyond her client base.

Today, Karen continues to inspire through her digital offerings, including her Quilty Stitches Club and her Patreon community, where she dives deeper into design, decision-making, and the creative side of quilting.
